She further revealed, "I was so moved by Sash’s incredible story of resilience and determination, and also that it is an amazing rendition of an extremely sensitive story, it was a no-brainer for us to collaborate. We cannot wait to share this story with you."
A young Indian boy who encounters difficult obstacles is the subject of the true story Born Hungry. He travels far from home, depending only on trains and good fortune, after becoming separated from his family. Now, Sash Simpson, who was adopted and went from living on the streets of Chennai alone to being a well-known chef in Canada, makes his way back to India with foggy memories in an attempt to find his missing family.
The film made its debut at the 2024 Palm Springs International Film Festival and will have its Toronto premiere on April 26 at the Hot Docs Film Festival.
