Anupam Kher recalls about his 'make or break' year!
In a recent social media post, Anupam Kher discussed how 1984 was a crucial year in his Bollywood career. Kher emphasized how the role influenced his career, recalling how Mahesh Bhatt placed him as a 65-year-old in Saaransh when others viewed him as "arrogant and delusional." At the age of 69, Anupam is ready to take on yet another difficult role as a 69-year-old triathlete in his next movie, Vijay 69.

In a recent motivational Instagram post, Anupam Kher discussed his life-changing experience since 1984, a year that "tested" his fortitude. He revealed, “1984 - was a make-or-break year for me. Every day was nerve-racking, and it tested my character, my patience. I was desperately looking to get work, get recognised, on my own terms.”

He lacked industry ties and pursued his acting ambitions with unwavering resolve, yearning to be acknowledged as a driven artist. His breakthrough performance in Mahesh Bhatt's Saaransh, in which he played a distraught father, was a turning point in his career.

Discussing the same topic, Anupam penned, “People thought I was arrogant and delusional. But I knew that the rage I had inside me was quietly waiting to tell everyone that they were wrong. And they were ... and I thank Mahesh Bhatt for it. He gave me Saaransh, he believed in me when no one else did. He had the vision to cast me as a 65-year-old man grieving and rebelling because he had lost his son.”

He is currently 69 years old and will compete in Vijay 69 against a 69-year-old triathlon hopeful. Inspired by his modest beginnings, he has accepted obstacles and fought for the average person throughout his forty-year journey. His performances are enhanced by his recollections of struggles, such as starvation and sleeping in railroad stations.

Anupam stresses that mistakes teach us important lessons, and he has never thought about giving up acting in spite of losses. Collaborations with Hollywood celebrities were the result of his dedication. Vijay 69 reminds us that age is just a number and represents his faith in the human spirit. Since dreamers do the unthinkable, he exhorts everyone to have big dreams.

Anupam reflected on his 40-year career in the Indian film industry in an emotional comment, revealing that younger colleagues just brought up this milestone during a marketing meeting for his next movie, Vijay 69.

He was deeply moved by this realization and proud that his art had struck a chord with them. Kher expressed gratitude for the chance to do what he loves and underlined that acting is not just his career but his identity. He concluded with a passionate "Jai Ho!" to inspire other dreamers.
