Earlier, Mudassar Aziz’s Happy Bhag Jayegi was a sleeper hit starring Diana Penty, Ali Fazal, Jimmy Sheirgill, Piyush Mishra and Abhay Deol. After 2 years gap, director is back with a sequel Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi which is comprising most of the previous cast plus two new characters played by Sonakshi Sinha and Jassi Gill.
As per plot, Happy (Diana) and her husband Guddu (Ali Fazal) are in China for the latter’s concert and a case of mistaken identity has led to the kidnapping of another Happy (Sonakshi Sinha). If this was not all, Daman Singh Bagga (Jimmy) and Pakistani cop Usman Afridi (Mishra) too have landed up in China against their will. When Sonakshi’s character manages to escape from her kidnappers and runs into Indian Embassy employee Khushwant Singh Gill (Jassi), it leads to a comedy of errors involving all the characters.
Jimmy Sheirgill and Piyush Mishra’s banter is the highlight of the movie. Both are entertaining and engaging with their whacky characters. Jassi Gill (as a debutant) is fresh and capable while Diana, Ali and Sonakshi are OK in their performances. Aparshakti Khurrana (as Sonakshi’s runaway fiancé) is good in his act.
Film Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi is an entertaining film with a few good acts. The dialogues are really funny and all characters are crazy and adorable.
Overall, it is worthy to watch once for Jimmy Sheirgill’s capable act and its funny quotients.
